Everything Deft Foundry ships that someone else wrote, and the terms it travels under.
# Third-party notices Deft Foundry ships other people's work to other people's machines in two places, and both are redistribution: the JavaScript and fonts `deftfoundry.com` sends to a visitor's browser, and the Chrome Web Store zip of each extension. Nothing here is optional politeness. Every licence involved — MIT, ISC, Apache 2.0 and the SIL Open Font License — makes passing this notice on a *condition* of distributing the work, and this repo distributes to those two audiences at once. This file is the **single source of truth** for that, and the only one: no page, README or store listing restates a licence, they point here. `/licenses` on the site renders these exact bytes, read off disk at build time, and each extension's `scripts/copy-notices.mjs` copies this exact file into its own build output so it ships inside that zip beside the fonts. §6 carries the four licence texts that are not quoted where they are first named. Copyright lines below are the ones **inside the artifact we ship** — a font's own `name` table, a package's own `LICENSE` — rather than what an upstream README or a memory of it says. That is the discipline, not pedantry: the copyright line is the thing these licences exist to carry, so a hand-written one that has drifted is a wrong statement we are *distributing*. §1.2 is where it would have gone wrong here, and did. --- ## 1. Fonts ### 1.1 The three families the website is set in **SIL Open Font License 1.1** (full text in §6.4). | Family | Copyright | |---|---| | IBM Plex Sans, IBM Plex Mono | Copyright © 2017 IBM Corp. with Reserved Font Name "Plex" | | Literata | Copyright 2017 The Literata Project Authors (<https://github.com/googlefonts/literata>) | `apps/home` loads them through Next's `next/font/google`, which downloads the files **at build time** and serves them from `deftfoundry.com` rather than from Google's CDN — so the site redistributes these binaries and owes their notice here. It is also why the site's CSP names no Google font host at all (`apps/home/src/lib/csp.js`: `font-src 'self'`), and why `/privacy` does not list Google as seeing you for fonts: no font request leaves for anyone. ### 1.2 The families bundled in the extensions **SIL Open Font License 1.1** (§6.4). The first two Latin subsets are committed under `apps/redkeep/src/assets/fonts/` **and** `apps/tubekeep/src/assets/fonts/`, and each extension compiles its own copy into its own zip. Byte-identical files, two redistributions — one notice covers both, and each zip carries this file (`scripts/copy-notices.mjs`, wired into both `build` and `zip`). The third is tubekeep's alone (its popup's body face, since 2026-08-30) and ships only in that zip. | File | Family | Copyright, as declared in the file's own `name` table | |---|---|---| | `GeistMono-latin.woff2` | Geist Mono | Copyright 2024 The Geist Project Authors (<https://github.com/vercel/geist-font>) | | `Marcellus-latin.woff2` (redkeep since 2026-09-02; tubekeep follows in #124) | Marcellus | Copyright (c) 2012 by Brian J. Bonislawsky DBA Astigmatic (AOETI) ([email protected]), with Reserved Font Name "Marcellus" — the binary's own line; the project's OFL.txt header abbreviates it to "Copyright (c) 2012, Astigmatic ([email protected])" (<https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Marcellus>) | | `InstrumentSerif-latin.woff2` (tubekeep only, until #124 lands) | Instrument Serif | Copyright 2022 The Instrument Serif Project Authors (<https://github.com/Instrument/instrument-serif>) | | `IBMPlexSans-latin.woff2` (tubekeep only) | IBM Plex Sans | Copyright 2019 IBM Corp. All rights reserved. | The Plex binary's `name` table says 2019 and nothing about a reserved name, where §1.1's line for the site's Plex says 2017 and "Plex" — two different builds of the family, each credited as its own bytes state. The extension's copy is the same file lingokeep's extension ships, subset by Google Fonts. **Geist publishes two different copyright lines, and only one of them belongs here.** Its repo carries a `LICENSE.txt` reading `Copyright (c) 2023 Vercel, in collaboration with basement.studio` and an `OFL.txt` reading `Copyright 2024 The Geist Project Authors` — and the binary in this repo declares the second. The 2023/Vercel line is what an earlier draft of this file stated, from memory of the project rather than from the bytes; it is the same failure the Literata year was fixed for in two sibling repos. The table above is generated from the file we ship, and `apps/home/test/unit/notices-copyright.test.js` re-reads those bytes on every test run so it cannot drift again. Both subsets carry their licence URL in the `name` table's machine-readable licence field, which is one of the three forms OFL §2 accepts. The zip carries this file as well, so the full text travels with them either way. ### 1.3 One glyph, in an extension icon **Redkeep's only, and Tubekeep's absence from this section is a fact rather than a gap.** Tubekeep's icon exists (repo #59) and draws nothing of anyone else's — it is four rectangles and two gradients, no glyph and no traced artwork — so there is nothing here to credit. Said out loud because "the other extension is not listed" should read as "checked" rather than "forgotten". The Redkeep icon (`apps/redkeep/assets/icon.svg`, and the `public/icon/*.png` rendered from it) draws one character — 红 — whose outline is taken from **Noto Serif SC Bold**, `(c) 2017-2024 Adobe (http://www.adobe.com/)`, published by the Noto project (<https://github.com/notofonts/noto-cjk>) under the **SIL Open Font License 1.1**. No font file is shipped: only that one outline, baked into artwork. OFL §5 is explicit that "the requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the Font Software", so the icon is not itself OFL-licensed and no condition attaches to it. The credit is given because the outline is someone's work, and because the reason a licensed face was used rather than whatever was installed locally is only legible if it is written down. --- ## 2. Compiled into the extension zips **Both of them.** This section covered Redkeep alone until 2026-08-19, when Tubekeep became the second thing this repo redistributes — and the audit found the two dependency sets identical save for one row, which is noted where it sits rather than by splitting the table in two. Two zips, one list. All **MIT** except the three marked, whose texts are in §6. `@jun/site-kit`, `@jun/deft-foundry-core` and `@jun/deft-foundry-ext-kit` are ours and carry no third-party obligation. | Package | Licence | Copyright | |---|---|---| | `react`, `react-dom` | MIT | Copyright (c) Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates. | | `radix-ui` and the `@radix-ui/*` primitives it re-exports | MIT | Copyright (c) 2022 WorkOS | | `lucide-react` | **ISC** (the icons derived from Feather: MIT) | Copyright (c) 2026 Lucide Icons and Contributors · Feather: Copyright (c) 2013-present Cole Bemis | | `cmdk` — **Redkeep only** (its command palette; Tubekeep has no `ui/command.jsx` and does not depend on it) | MIT | Copyright (c) 2022 Paco Coursey | | `minisearch` — the text index behind every search and filter box on **both** (`@jun/deft-foundry-ext-kit/text-index`; Tubekeep only until 2026-08-24, when #104 moved it into the kit and Redkeep's note search became the second consumer) | MIT | Copyright 2022 Luca Ongaro | | `class-variance-authority` | **Apache-2.0** | Copyright 2022 Joe Bell (<https://joebell.co.uk>) | | `clsx` | MIT | Copyright (c) Luke Edwards \<[email protected]\> (lukeed.com) | | `tailwind-merge` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2021 Dany Castillo | | `wxt` (its `utils/*` runtime helpers, which are bundled — the CLI is not) | MIT | Copyright (c) Aaron Klinker (<https://github.com/wxt-dev/wxt>) | | `tailwindcss`, `tw-animate-css` | MIT | Copyright (c) Tailwind Labs, Inc. · Copyright (c) 2025 Wombosvideo | | `aria-hidden`, `react-remove-scroll`, `react-remove-scroll-bar`, `react-style-singleton`, `use-callback-ref`, `use-sidecar` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2017 Anton Korzunov | | `get-nonce` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2020 Anton Korzunov | | `detect-node-es` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2017 Ilya Kantor | | `@floating-ui/react-dom`, `@floating-ui/dom`, `@floating-ui/core`, `@floating-ui/utils` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2021-present Floating UI contributors | | `tslib` | **0BSD** (§6.5 — it is the one licence here that asks for nothing) | Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. | The last five rows arrive through Radix's dialog, dropdown and tooltip primitives rather than through either extension's own imports. They ship in both zips all the same, which is the only test that matters here. Tailwind is in the table for the same reason: what ships is generated CSS rather than the compiler, but its preflight layer is upstream's own stylesheet, and a notice costs nothing next to arguing about it. --- ## 3. Compiled into the website's browser bundle `deftfoundry.com` renders on the server, but its interactive parts are React components, so Next.js ships their libraries to the visitor. Everything in §2's table that also appears here keeps the same copyright line and is not repeated; this table is what the site adds. Two of these are **not** MIT — `next-auth` is ISC and `@swc/helpers` is Apache 2.0, joining `lucide-react` and `class-variance-authority` from §2 — and §6 carries both texts for that reason. | Package | Licence | Copyright | |---|---|---| | `next` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2025 Vercel, Inc. | | `styled-jsx` (Next's own, shipped with it) | MIT | Copyright (c) 2016-present Vercel, Inc. | | `client-only` (a marker module Next depends on — React's, not Vercel's, despite arriving through Next) | MIT | Copyright (c) Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates. | | `@swc/helpers` — SWC emits imports of these runtime helpers into the code it transpiles, so whichever the bundle needs travel with it | **Apache-2.0** | Copyright 2024 SWC contributors. | | `next-auth` — the `next-auth/react` half only; the server half is §4 | **ISC** | Copyright (c) 2022-2024, Balázs Orbán | | `next-themes` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2022 Paco Coursey | | `sonner` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2023 Emil Kowalski | | `zod` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2025 Colin McDonnell | | `jotai` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2020 Poimandres | | `date-fns` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2021 Sasha Koss and Lesha Koss (<https://kossnocorp.mit-license.org>) | | `@tanstack/react-query`, `@tanstack/query-core` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2021-present Tanner Linsley | | `@tanstack/react-table`, `@tanstack/table-core` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2016 Tanner Linsley | | `react-hook-form`, `@hookform/resolvers` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2019-present Beier(Bill) Luo | | `@standard-schema/utils` | MIT | Copyright (c) 2024 Fabian Hiller | The TanStack and react-hook-form rows arrive through `@jun/site-kit`'s account and admin surfaces rather than through this repo's own imports; they reach the browser all the same. --- ## 4. Server-side only — named, so this audit can be checked Software we run on our own servers is not distributed to anyone, and none of these licences attaches a condition to running a service. They are listed because an audit that silently omits a package is indistinguishable from one that missed it — and because two of them are copyleft, which is the pair a reader would want to see accounted for rather than absent. | Package | Licence | Where it runs | |---|---|---| | `next-auth` (server half), `@auth/core`, `@auth/drizzle-adapter` | ISC | Sign-in, session and the adapter | | `drizzle-orm` | Apache-2.0 | Database access | | `postgres` | Unlicense | The Postgres driver | | `stripe` | MIT | Billing, server-side only — no Stripe.js is embedded | | `pino` | MIT | Structured logging | | **`next-mdx-remote`** | **MPL-2.0** | Blog compilation, through `next-mdx-remote/rsc`. It is a React Server Component API: it compiles MDX during the render on our server and nothing of it is sent to the browser, so no MPL §3.2 distribution occurs. Its source is at <https://github.com/hashicorp/next-mdx-remote> — Copyright (c) 2020 HashiCorp, Inc. | | `remark-gfm`, `vfile`, `vfile-matter` | MIT | The same compile step | | `dotenv` | BSD-2-Clause | Local development only | **Build-time only**, and shipped in no form: `lightningcss` (MPL-2.0), which Tailwind uses to compile CSS — the output stylesheet is our own content, not lightningcss's code — plus `caniuse-lite` (CC-BY-4.0), `typescript`, `drizzle-kit`, `eslint`, `vitest`, `playwright` and the rest of the toolchain. None of it reaches a browser or a zip. --- ## 5. Names that are other people's Deft Foundry is an independent publisher and is affiliated with, endorsed by and sponsored by none of the following. **Redkeep works with RedNote** (小红书 / Xiaohongshu), whose name, marks and service belong to its owners. The extension reads *your own* saved collection inside *your own* signed-in browser session, at your instruction; it is a tool you point at that service, not a partnership with it, and your use of that service stays governed by its own terms. The name "Redkeep" is ours and describes what the tool does with what you have kept. **Chrome**, **Google** and **Google Fonts** are Google's; **Stripe** is Stripe's; **OpenRouter** is OpenRouter's; **Cloudflare**, **Hetzner** and **Amazon Web Services** are their respective owners'. Where any of these is named on this site, in an extension, or in this file, it is referential — it says which service is involved and why — and renaming it would make the statement wrong. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners. --- ## 6. Definitions. "License" shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction, and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document. "Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by the copyright owner that is granting the License. "Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition, "control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity. "You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity exercising permissions granted by this License. "Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications, including but not limited to software source code, documentation source, and configuration files. "Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical transformation or translation of a Source form, including but not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation, and conversions to other media types. "Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work (an example is provided in the Appendix below). "Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof. "Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems, and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution." "Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and subsequently incorporated within the Work. 2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form. 3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s) with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You institute patent litigation against any entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed. 4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You meet the following conditions: (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or Derivative Works a copy of this License; and (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices stating that You changed the files; and (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and attribution notices from the Source form of the Work, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works; and (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or, within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed as modifying the License. You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated in this License. 5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise, any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of this License, without any additional terms or conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed with Licensor regarding such Contributions. 6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor, except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file. 7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License. 8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory, whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor has been advised of the possibility of such damages. 9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability. The copyright line each family reserves is in its own row in §1; the body below is the licence itself, which OFL §2 requires to travel with every copy of the font. ``` This Font Software is licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1. This license is copied below, and is also available with a FAQ at: https://openfontlicense.org ----------------------------------------------------------- SIL OPEN FONT LICENSE Version 1.1 - 26 February 2007 ----------------------------------------------------------- PREAMBLE The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership with others. The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded, redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives, however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives. DEFINITIONS "Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may include source files, build scripts and documentation. "Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the copyright statement(s). "Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as distributed by the Copyright Holder(s). "Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting, or substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a new environment. "Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software. PERMISSION & CONDITIONS Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of the Font Software, to use, study, copy, merge, embed, modify, redistribute, and sell modified and unmodified copies of the Font Software, subject to the following conditions: 1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components, in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself. 2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled, redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user. 3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as presented to the users. 4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written permission. 5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole, must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the Font Software. TERMINATION This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are not met. DISCLAIMER THE FONT SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT, PATENT, TRADEMARK, OR OTHER RIGHT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE FONT SOFTWARE OR FROM OTHER DEALINGS IN THE FONT SOFTWARE. ``` ### 6.5 BSD Zero Clause License — `tslib` Included for completeness rather than obligation: 0BSD is the one licence in this file that drops the notice-retention condition, so nothing was required of us here.
